Mumbai, May 29, 2003: Welcoming the announcement
of the Government of India reducing the Custom Duty on Set
Top Boxes to 5%, IndusInd Media & Communications Limited
(INCableNet) is delighted to announce its introductory scheme
starting from June 15, 2003, of making available Digital Set
Top Boxes to customers at a deposit of Rs 999/- plus a nominal
daily rent of Re 1/-. The Pay TV services will be provided
under the brand name of 'INDigital' and will
be available to its Cable TV subscribers in Mumbai and Delhi.
INCableNet has already placed firm orders for all the other
equipment necessary for implementation of CAS, such as Digital
Headends; Conditional Access Systems; Subscriber Management
Systems in order to smoothly implement Pay TV services as
mandated by the government from 15th of July 2003.
This introductory offer is valid upto third week of July,
to pass on the benefit of the custom duty concessions announced
by the government to customers. INCableNet has several more
schemes in the pipeline to provide Set Top Boxes on soft terms.
This will remove the disinformation and misgivings in the
minds of public and eliminate the bogey of high cost of the
Set Top Boxes and consequent financial burden on the customer.
It will be the effort of INCableNet to ensure that the introduction
of CAS is not a burden on the common man. INCablenet will
soon be announcing a helpline number on which consumers can
ask their questions regarding the schemes, box promotions
etc.
INCableNet hopes that Pay TV broadcasters will work with
the Cable TV Industry and match the gesture of the government
and the investment of the MSO & Cable Operators to make
an affordable and smooth transition to CAS ensuring high quality
Pay TV services. INCableNet will, within the FTA price of
Rs.72/-, provide seventy (70) Free-To-Air channels. It will
be INCableNet?s effort to ensure that with the introduction
of CAS, the customer will not have to pay more for Cable TV
services and have a reasonable choice of channels available
to them.
